Job Description

Responsibilities

Monitor and manage daily batch processing cycles in Mainframe z/OS environments.

Schedule, maintain, and support batch workloads using Control-M, TWS/OPC, CA-7, or similar scheduling tools.

Perform batch job monitoring, job restarts, reruns, dependency management, and failure resolution.

Monitor mainframe consoles, JES2, SDSF queues, and system messages to ensure smooth operations.

Handle production incidents, escalations, and service requests while meeting SLA commitments.

Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and business teams during batch processing issues and outages.

Support IPL activities, system health checks, batch recovery, and operational maintenance activities.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures for recurring job failures.

Additional Responsibilities

Experience managing critical overnight batch cycles and business-critical processing windows.

Knowledge of workload optimization, SLA monitoring, and batch performance tuning.

Exposure to cross-platform scheduling and file transfer dependencies.

Ability to support 24×7 production environments through rotational shifts and on-call support.

Technical and Professional Requirements

Experience in Mainframe Operations, Scheduling, or Production Support.

Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JES2, and Console Operations.

Hands-on experience with Control-M, IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS/OPC), CA-7, ESP, or AutoSys.

Experience in batch monitoring, workload automation, and dependency management.

Understanding of CICS, DB2, VSAM, and file transfer processes in mainframe environments.

Knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes (ITIL).

Experience troubleshooting batch abends, job failures, and scheduling conflicts.

Familiarity with HMC, LPAR concepts, and IPL activities is desirable
