Backup Administrator

Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and maintain the Commvault backup and recovery environment across enterprise infrastructure.

Configure and manage backup schedules, policies, retention rules, and storage resources.

Perform backup, restore, disaster recovery, and data recovery activities to ensure business continuity.

Troubleshoot backup failures, performance issues, and storage-related incidents within SLA timelines.

Work closely with infrastructure, server, database, and application teams to ensure successful backup and recovery operations.

Additional Responsibilities

Experience managing enterprise backup environments with a focus on backup optimization and capacity planning.

Exposure to Disaster Recovery (DR) testing, compliance, and audit requirements.

Understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills with the ability to support 24×7 operations when required.

Technical and Professional Requirements

3-5 years of experience in Backup Administration, preferably with Commvault.

Hands-on experience with Commvault components including CommServe, MediaAgent, Libraries, and Deduplication.

Strong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, storage management, and disaster recovery processes.

Experience supporting Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V), and enterprise applications.

Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage technologies and cloud backup solutions is preferred.

Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell/Shell) for automation and reporting activities.
