Software Asset Management (SAM) Flexera Expert
We are seeking a Flexera SAM Engineer/Expert to lead and optimize a large-scale Software Asset Management program using Flexera (FlexNet Manager / FlexeraOne / SaaS Manager). In this role, you will ensure that the software estate—on-prem, SaaS, and cloud—is accurately inventoried, licensed, and optimized to reduce risk, avoid overspending, and maintain compliance with complex vendor agreements.
You will partner closely with Procurement, Finance, Security, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to design and operate scalable SAM processes, tooling, and reporting that align with enterprise governance standards.
As a SAM Flexera Expert, you will act as a
strategic and technical leader
responsible for end-to-end software asset lifecycle management. You will drive
tooling excellence, licensing compliance, and cost optimization
, while building scalable processes that support a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
In this role, you will:
- Own and manage the Flexera SAM ecosystem to deliver accurate insights into software usage and licensing.
- Drive strategic initiatives to improve license utilization and reduce unnecessary software spend.
- Establish governance frameworks for software procurement, deployment, and retirement.
- Act as a subject matter expert for licensing across major vendors and SaaS platforms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between technical, financial, and compliance objectives.
- Enable audit readiness and proactively mitigate compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain Flexera SAM platforms (FlexNet Manager / FlexeraOne / SaaS Manager).
- Lead software license compliance and optimization across key vendors (Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, SaaS).
- Develop and enforce SAM policies, workflows, and controls.
- Integrate Flexera with CMDB, ITSM, procurement, and cloud systems.
- Generate reports and dashboards for compliance, cost savings, and audit readiness.
- Support vendor audits and negotiations.
- Partner with Security and Infrastructure teams for accurate software inventory.
- Provide training and guidance on SAM best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of SAM/ITAM or licensing compliance experience.
- Hands-on expertise with Flexera tools.
- Strong knowledge of software licensing models and vendor agreements.
- Experience with ITSM/CMDB and discovery tools (ServiceNow, SCCM, Intune, Jamf, BigFix).
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and BI tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
