Job Description
Position Overview
Wipro Innovation Network (WIN) Labs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior / Lead Robotics Research Engineer – Perception to join our Robotics & Embodied AI team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of robotics research, focusing on computer vision, Visual-Language-Action (VLA) models, and sensor fusion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics and perception systems, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying advanced solutions for real-world robotic applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to cutting-edge research and development in computer vision, VLA models, and multi-sensor fusion for autonomous robotic systems.
- Design, implement, and optimise perception algorithms to enhance the capabilities of robotic platforms in complex environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate perception modules with planning, control, and manipulation subsystems.
- Prototype and validate perception solutions in both simulated (using NVIDIA Isaac Sim) and real-world scenarios.
- Mentor junior engineers and researchers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, computer vision, and AI; evaluate and incorporate relevant technologies into ongoing projects.
- Contribute to technical publications, patents, and presentations as part of WIN Labs’ commitment to thought leadership in robotics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of hands-on experience in robotics, with a focus on perception, computer vision, and sensor fusion.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C++ and expertise with Docker, Linux / Ubuntu & shell scripting
- Proven expertise in developing and deploying computer vision algorithms (e.g., object detection, tracking, SLAM, segmentation).
- Experience working with Visual-Language-Action (VLA) models or multi-modal AI systems.
- Solid understanding of sensor fusion techniques (e.g., combining camera, lidar, radar, IMU data).
- Comfortable working on end-to-end robotics projects, from prototyping to deployment.
- Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) and simulation tools such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim is highly desirable.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) is a plus.
- Experience with Cloud Services & Model Deployments is required
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Attributes
- Track record of published research in robotics, AI, or computer vision conferences and journals.
- Experience in large-scale data collection and annotation for perception systems.
- Exposure to real-world robotics deployments (industrial, service, or mobile robotics).
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead small technical teams.
